Leather Maintenance
Proper glove care goes far beyond appearance and laces — leather health plays an essential role in how well the ball glove performs.
Much like skin, leather is porous — meaning it contains tiny openings that once released natural oils to keep it soft and resilient. Because the leather on ball gloves no longer produces its own oils, regular maintenance is best to preserve glove function. Over time, consistent field use and a lack of conditioning will cause the leather to lose moisture, stiffen, and possibly tear.
Maintaining the ball glove’s leather helps extend its lifespan and ensures it stays reliable on the diamond and comfortable on the hand. Through proper cleaning, conditioning, and care, the ball glove’s original feel can be preserved, kept game-ready for seasons to come.
Leather Clean
Cleaning the ball glove’s leather rids its pores of dirt and other grime, clearing the way for leather conditioner to rejuvenate the glove’s skin.
Our Leather Clean removes dirt, dust, and other buildup from the glove’s insides, catching surface and leather creases accumulated through field time. Each glove is cleaned by hand using high-grade leather cleaners and a selection of bristle brushes chosen for their varying levels of abrasiveness to suit different areas of the glove.
Every label, patch, and sewn area is also given a careful deep clean with one of our softer, less abrasive brushes to restore detail without compromising the material.
Leather Cleaning services are not offered individually, as ball gloves must be fully conditioned after a cleaning phase.
Available with our Triple Play and Clean & Condition services, along as a add-on option with other services.
Leather Condition
Like skin, leather is naturally porous, with small holes that allow oils to keep it supple and strong. Our skin still naturally produces these oils - leather does not. Over time, expedited by regular use, those oils fade — leaving the leather dependent on proper maintenance and conditioning to stay healthy and moisturized in those pores. Without conditioning, the leather will gradually lose moisture, harden, and risk cracking or tearing.
Conditioning the ball glove’s leather restores moisture, softness, and flexion to the leather — keeping the glove comfortable and game-ready. Proper conditioning over time and use can continuously keep the glove in action. Any glove can be conditioned on its own, even without a cleaning, to help maintain the leather’s natural feel and extend its lifespan.
Leather conditioning can be ordered individually - however, we strongly recommend Leather Cleaning if the ball glove’s leather has too much buildup - conditioner may not take as well, or as evenly, with buildup trapped in the leather.
Available with our Triple Play, Clean & Condition, and Leather Conditioner services, along as a add-on option with many other services.
